After 6 hours of horrendous staus (the German word for the kind of traffic jam where you are just sitting and sitting and sitting) and construction, we were wondering WHAT we had gotten ourselves into. Our nice, relaxing weekend had not gotten off to the best start. Well, then we saw this...
...and remembered that it WAS worth it!We've been to Garmisch several times. But it is such a wonderful town. Such charm...and the Alps are magnificent. We decided to head down there for one last visit over Columbus Day weekend. The leaves were a rainbow of color.
The weather was perfect. So, we went out on the hiking trail behind Edelweiss Lodge and Resort (the military hotel in Garmisch...which by the way is top notch!).
We also went for a hike in the Partnach Gorge.
To get to the gorge, you have to walk through the Olympic Stadium. Here is Jason at the Olympic Ski Jump.
Lots of other people had the same idea on a gorgeous day!
For me, the hike was easy...not so much for Jason. You see, the rock overhang is several inches too short for him. So, most of the hike he was hunched over.
"Rain drops keep falling on my head." Well, not actually rain drops...gorge drops??? Either way, we were nice and wet, as the picture attests.
The pictures don't do the water justice...it is the most amazing teal color.
