Romantic Paris for our 6th Anniversary!

Our first big trip in Europe when we first moved here was to Paris for our 1st anniversary. We decided to relive that memory, and we returned to Paris for our 6th anniversary.

This is our anniversary dinner at a fabulous traditional French restaurant. We are finishing off dinner with Creme Brulee. (for you gals out there...that's a reference to My Best Friend's Wedding)

Our weekend started out rainy and yucky, but we still made the most of it. And in the end...we were rewarded with blue skies.

I don't think it matters how many times you see the Eiffel Tower. It's still an amazing sight. How can you not be marvelled by that?
Jason with the Eiffel TowerOf course I had to take a more non-traditional picture.
All smiles with the Eiffel Tower behind us
Another non-traditional look at this steel marvel
Amy...happy to be in Paris!
Notre Dame Cathedral
Us in front of Notre Dame (this was before the rain let up)
But to me, this is the most beautiful view of Notre Dame...all those flying buttresses

And of course you can't leave out those famous gargoyles!
Along the Seine River
Sacre' Coeur sits above the city with an amazing view.
The Arc de Triomphe
The Champs-Elysees
This cathedral, Sainte Chapelle, is a hidden gem in Paris. It isn't nearly as glamorous as Notre Dame is on the outside...but the inside will make you awe struck.

Sainte Chapelle was built for Louis IX to house the Crown of Thorns (it is now kept in the treasury at Notre Dame).
Even the metro signs look like art in Paris. This is one of the 17 original Art Neauveau metro signs (from the turn of the 19th century).
The Louvre was the only sight we did not get a chance to see on our first visit to Paris. So this time it was a must. Here you can see the museum with it's modern (and much discussed) entrance.
"Winged Victory"
Michelangelo's "The Slaves"
All this art is impressive...but it's also tiring.

"Mona Lisa"
We had heard so many people tell us that we would be disappointed in the Mona Lisa (it's smaller than most people expect...and there's so much hype over it), that we had low standards. Thanks to our low standards, we actually were impressed with her. And yes, her eyes do follow you (of course we tried it!)
"Venus de Milo"
